Paul Hayes graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1969 and completed his radiology and nuclear medicine training at St Thomas Hospital, London. Paul has specialist qualifications in both radiology and nuclear medicine.

Paul worked as a staff radiologist at the Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1977) and was Assistant Professor of Radiology at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee (1978–1979).

Upon returning to Australia, Paul was the Deputy Director of Radiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane (1980–1985), before joining South Coast Radiology in 1985. He has also held Visiting Medical Officer positions at the Gold Coast and Tweed District Hospitals.

Paul’s subspecialty interest areas include paediatrics, nuclear medicine, emerging techniques in ultrasound and all areas of interventional radiology and gastrointestinal radiology.

Paul enjoys the challenges and variety of work at South Coast Radiology, but still maintains an interest in rural activities.
