Radiographer Career Pathways
Grow your skills, expand your experience and progress your radiography career through clearly defined CT and MRI achievement levels. As your CT and MRI skills develop, so can your remenuration.
CT1:
A staff member must be competent in routine basic CT scanning, able to work independently and as part of a team performing a variety of CT imaging and procedures. They should understand cross-sectional anatomy, radiation dose, and contrast risks and contraindications. Their skill level is to be assessed by the CT Lead or Regional Managers.
CT2:
A staff member must have a strong understanding of CT, including complex scans and procedures, including Vitrea workups, angiography and high-end interventional procedures. Their skill level is to be assessed by the CT Lead or Regional Managers.
CT3:
A staff member must be capable of performing cardiac scans and signed off as competent by the CT Lead. Staff must complete a minimum of 15 cardiac imaging and Vitrea workups per year to maintain CT3 allowance.
MR1:
An experienced Radiographer who has completed training in MRI and is able to work independently and as part of a team performing a variety of MRI scans. They should understand MRI safety, imaging sequences, scan protocoling, and have strong knowledge in common anatomy and pathologies. Their skill level is to be assessed by the MRI Lead.
MR2:
An MR Radiographer who has achieved and maintains a higher degree of learning, including the ASMIRT Level 1 MRI Certificate or postgraduate study in MRI.
