Value every breath

Do you have enough air to last a lifetime?

Every breath we take is a reminder of life’s simplest gift, the ability to breathe freely. But for many Australians, that gift can be silently threatened by lung cancer, often before any symptoms appear.

As part of our ongoing commitment to lung cancer awareness, South Coast Radiology is dedicated to educating the community about early detection and the importance of screening for those most at risk.

At South Coast Radiology, we believe that every breath matters. That’s why we’re proud to support the National Lung Cancer Screening Program, helping Australians at risk detect lung cancer early through safe, low-dose CT scans.

Lung Cancer and early detection

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in Australia, largely because it’s often found too late. Early detection through screening can significantly increase survival rates and that’s where our partnership with Chest Scan Australia plays a crucial role.

Through Chest Scan Australia, we’re bringing advanced low-dose CT technology to local communities across the country. These scans can identify early signs of lung cancer often before symptoms develop, giving patients and their doctors the best chance to act early.

Recognising the Warning Signs

Even outside the screening program, it’s important to be aware of potential symptoms:

  • Persistent cough or shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Coughing up blood or rust-coloured phlegm
  • Recurrent chest infections
  • Fatigue, weight loss, or voice changes

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, speak with your GP about a referral for a CT lung scan. Early action can make all the difference.

The Power of Low-Dose Chest CT Scans

A low-dose chest CT scan is a powerful diagnostic tool that exposes patients to significantly lower levels of radiation than conventional scans while providing high-quality imaging. This painless procedure takes only minutes to complete, allowing you to return to your regular activities without delay.

At South Coast Radiology, our network of practices across the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads, Darling Downs and Mackay regions are able to utilise the power of CT technology to discover lung disease including lung cancer.
