EOSedge™ Low-Dose Imaging

At South Coast Radiology, we’re proud to offer EOSedge™, the Gold Coast’s first and only system of its kind, an advanced imaging technology that captures high-quality, full-body images while patients stand or sit in their natural, weight-bearing position.

EOSedge™ uses next-generation photon-counting detectors and automatic dose modulation to deliver detailed 2D imaging of the spine, pelvis and lower limbs, with significantly reduced radiation exposure compared with conventional digital radiography.

This makes EOSedge™ particularly valuable for children, adolescents and anyone who requires ongoing imaging to monitor conditions such as scoliosis, postural imbalance or alignment issues, delivering up to 5× lower radiation dose on average compared with conventional digital radiography for appropriate examinations.

What is EOSedge™ Imaging?

EOSedge™ is an advanced low-dose imaging system that simultaneously captures front and side (biplanar) images of the entire body in a single scan.

It enables your doctor to:

  • Assess spinal alignment, posture and biomechanics
  • Evaluate the spine, pelvis and lower limbs together, in one scan
  • Measure leg length discrepancies and pelvic balance
  • Monitor scoliosis progression or treatment outcomes
  • Support surgical planning with true-to-scale, highly accurate measurements

The scan is quick, safe and comfortable, making it ideal for patients who need imaging performed in a natural, weight-bearing position and for those who require repeated scans over time.

Why might I need EOSedge™ imaging?

EOSedge™ provides your healthcare team with clear, true-to-scale images to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Your doctor or specialist may refer you for an EOSedge™ scan if you’re experiencing:

  • Back or neck pain
  • Scoliosis (diagnosis, assessment or ongoing monitoring)
  • Postural concerns
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Hip or pelvic imbalance
  • Knee alignment concerns
  • Sports injuries
  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Pre- or post-treatment and surgical assessment
  • Paediatric orthopaedic conditions

  • The scan is fast, painless and non-invasive.
  • You’ll be guided on how to stand for proper posture and alignment during imaging.
  • Because EOSedge™ scans are performed in a natural, weight-bearing position, the images show your spine and joints exactly as they align in everyday life.

After your appointment

  • You can return to normal activities immediately.
  • The images are reviewed by one of our specialist radiologists, who will provide a detailed report to your referring doctor.
