Dental Cone Beam i-CAT

i-CAT is a more advanced form of dental imaging which uses advanced technology to produce a 3D reconstruction of your teeth, jaw, nerve pathways and bone structure.

Dental Cone Beam i-CAT

What is i-CAT?

i-CAT is a painless and non-invasive examination. Your referring practitioner will refer you for an i-CAT when regular dental or facial bone X-rays are inadequate.

i-CAT uses specialised X-ray equipment to provide high resolution 3D reconstructions of teeth, soft tissue, nerve pathways and bone structure in a single scan. i-CAT enables a more precise treatment plan for dental implants and orthodontic treatment, and in neuromuscular and functional dentistry.

After i-CAT?

Dental imaging requires no special post treatment care and the patient can return to normal activities straight after the test, as there are no after effects.

One of our radiologists will interpret the scan and provide the referring practitioner with a comprehensive report about the findings. The results of your scan will be sent directly to your referring doctor, and it is very important you book a timely follow-up appointment to discuss your results.

Patient Safety?

Dental scans involve a very small dose of radiation, which makes this test unsuitable for women who are, or might be pregnant. The benefits of dental scans out outweigh the potential risks involved.

If you are pregnant or have reason to believe you may be, please inform your doctor and our staff at that time of booking so proper precautions can be taken.

Our radiographers are trained to use the smallest possible amount of X-rays required to produce a satisfactory image. The benefits of an X-ray generally out outweigh the risks involved.
