Dr Matt Aitken
MBChB, FRANZCR
Dr Matthew Aitken graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Otago, Dunedin in 2011 and completed his radiology training at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton in 2019.
He moved to Canada for 2 years (2020-2022) to complete fellowships in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at Toronto General Hospital, a quaternary referral center for adult congenital heart disease, organ transplantation, complex cardiac ablations and device implantation. He then undertook a year of Abdominal/Body Imaging at St Michael’s hospital, Toronto.
During fellowship he obtained 2 first authorship publications in Radiology, performing meta-analyses comparing diagnostic accuracy and prognostic significance of cardiac MRI versus FDG-PET in cardiac sarcoidosis, and presented both papers at the worlds largest radiology conference, RSNA.
He was a finalist for the American Heart Association Young Investigator Award at the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging (NASCI) meeting in 2021, and received a Certificate of Merit award at the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) meeting in 2022.
He has presented and chaired multiple sessions at local and Australasian RANZCR Annual Scientific Meetings, was an invited guest speaker at the Society for Cardiac MRI Global Conference in London 2024, and is a Clinical Reviewer for the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
He is passionate about registrar education and training, and is currently one of the Directors of Training at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH). He is secretary of the Queensland Branch of RANZCR and serves on the RANZCR Pathology Examination Panel.
He volunteers with Radiology Across Borders as a TIDES (Teleradiology in Disaster Events, Screening and Second opinions) Radiologist and assists with webinars.
His special interests include advanced cardiac imaging including Cardiac MRI, and abdominopelvic MRI. At GCUH he is one of the specialists involved in taking the multidisciplinary meetings for Chest, and Gynaecology Oncology.
Dr Moses Beh
MBBS, MRAD, FRCR, FRANZCR, FAANMS
Moses Beh completed his medical training at the University of Malaya in Malaysia, and graduated with a masters of radiology in 2010. He was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) in the same year.
He then obtained his fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine from Flinders Medical Centre and Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2013. Moses worked as a radiologist at Bensons Radiology in 2014 and IMED Network in 2015 before moving to the Gold Coast and joining South Coast Radiology.
His subspecialties include Nuclear Medicine, and has a keen interest in MSK, body MRI and metabolic imaging.
Dr Craig Buchan
BCom, MBBS (Hons), FRANZCR, MMed (Pain Management)
Dr Craig Buchan graduated from the University of Sydney with honours in 2002 and completed his radiology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. In 2010, Craig completed a year-long musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at the University of Toronto Health Care Network in Toronto, Canada.
Since 2011, Craig has held appointments as a Senior Staff Specialist Radiologist with the Gold Coast Hospital Health Service and VMO Radiologist at the Tweed and Murwillumbah Hospitals. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Radiology at Bond University and has worked in private radiology clinics and hospitals on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.
Craig has advanced skills in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic imaging, MRI, and interventional radiology, with a particular emphasis on image-guided spinal and pain management procedures including RFA, PRP, and advanced tendon and nerve-related techniques.
He has completed postgraduate training in Pain Management through the University of Sydney and works closely with GPs, sports physicians, pain physicians, palliative care specialists, and orthopaedic and spinal surgeons to provide appropriate imaging and non-surgical care for their patients.
Craig was recently accepted as a member of the prestigious International Skeletal Society (ISS) — a global organisation of leading experts in musculoskeletal imaging. He is currently the only radiologist on the Gold Coast and one of very few in Queensland to be inducted into the society, which recognises excellence in musculoskeletal radiology worldwide.
Dr Michael Chan
MBChB, FRANZCR
Clinical Director - Palm Beach
Michael Chan graduated from University of Otago, NZ in 2004.
He then completed his radiology training in Dunedin Hospital from 2007 to 2011, and completed a Body Imaging and Intervention Fellowship in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth in 2012. He is also a member of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA).
Michael worked for SKG Radiology in WA from 2013, before joining South Coast Radiology in 2017.
His subspecialty interest areas include abdominal and vascular imaging, and intervention.
Dr Brunie Danga-Christian
MBBS (UPNG), Dip.Rad (Aust. College of Rad.), MMed (UPNG), FRANZCR
Brunie Danga-Christian graduated MBBS, from the University of Papua New Guinea 1983.
She then worked as a consultant General Physician at Port Moresby Base Hospital before commencing Radiology training at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, SA.
Brunie obtained her FRANZCR as a general radiologist, and in 2003 worked at Cairns Base Hospital before leaving for private practice in 2006.
Brunie is a keen footballer and represented Eastern Suburbs Sydney and South Australia in the State and National Titles and Arafura Games, and also represented PNG in a World Cup.
Dr Matthew Devine
MBBS, BSc, FRANZCR, PhD
Dr Matthew Devine graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2011. He completed radiology training at a variety of tertiary centres in Queensland, and subspecialist training in Head & Neck imaging at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
He was awarded both the MGF Donnan Prize and Uhr Clarke Bursary for the 2018 RANZCR examinations. He is a member of ASHNR and ANZSNR, an associate lecturer at the University of Queensland, and completed a PhD in 2019 in the field of neurosciences.
Matthew’s areas of interest include Head & Neck Imaging, Neuroimaging and imaging-guided procedures. He is also involved in teaching of registrars and research.
Dr Patrick Edwin
MBBS, FRCR, FRANZCR
Patrick Edwin completed his specialist training in clinical radiology at the Mersey Deanery in the Northwest of England after graduating from the prestigious St. John’s Medical College Bangalore.
Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in abdominal imaging and non-vascular intervention at Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina.
A general radiologist, his areas of interest include abdominal and pelvic MRI, image guided interventions, oncologic and chest imaging.
He is a staff specialist at the Gold Coast and Robina Hospitals, and is a keen teacher to registrars, medical students and allied health professionals.
Patrick is an examiner for the FRANZCR part 2.
Dr Ali Elisay
MD, FRANZCR
Dr Ali R Elisay finished his Medical Doctorate degree at the Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2002. He then completed his 5 year radiology training at the Canberra Hospital in 2017.
He then completed his post graduate fellowship in MRI Imaging at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Dr Elisay has also worked as specialist radiologist at the Canberra Hospital and the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Ali commenced at South Coast Radiology in 2020, and his interests include Neuro, Abdomen, and Musculoskeletal MRI imaging.
Dr David Eriksen
BSc (Hons), MBBS, FRANZCR, EBIR
Dr David Eriksen graduated from Griffith University Medical School in 2008 before undertaking his internship and residency at the Gold Coast Hospital.
He completed his radiology training in South Australia in 2017 before undertaking a year long fellowship at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 2018 in interventional radiology.
In 2019 he successfully obtained his European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) qualification. Between 2019 and 2024 he held a position of senior staff specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital where he worked as an interventional and diagnostic radiologist. More recently he has taken up a position at the Tweed Valley Hospital.
David is a general interventionalist with experience in both vascular and non-vascular procedures. This includes chemo-embolisation (TACE and SIRT), hepatobiliary interventions, genitourinary procedures such as uterine fibroid and varicocele embolisation as well as vascular procedures including visceral artery aneurysm embolisation and treatment of vascular malformations. He also performs complex and routine biopsies and pain management procedures.
He has an interest in abdominal and vascular imaging and splits his time between procedural work and general diagnostic reporting.
Dr Kieran Frawley

Clinical Director - Pindara
Dr Kieran Frawley has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for nearly 20 years.
Kieran Frawley graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1988, and completed his radiology training at the Mater Hospital, Brisbane, in 1996.
Kieran was awarded a fellowship in Paediatric Radiology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney (1996) and then moved to the US where he worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centre, Ohio (1997-1998).
Kieran started as a consultant radiologist at South Coast Radiology in 1998, and joined the company on a part-time basis in 2000. He continues to work as a staff radiologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane.
Kieran has a keen interest in all facets of paediatric radiology, and his subspecialty interest areas include neuroradiology and emerging paediatric-imaging techniques.
Dr Anand Gaikwad
MBBS, DNB, DMRD, DMRE, FRANZCR
Dr Anand Gaikwad graduated from the University of Pune, India and completed his radiology training at the University of Mumbai and National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, India.
He also completed subspecialty clinical fellowships in Oncologic Imaging (National Cancer Centre, Singapore), Thoracic Imaging (University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada) and Cross-sectional Imaging (McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada).
He brings with him a wealth of experience in all aspects of Radiology and his sub specialty areas include Thoracic and Abdominal Imaging.
Dr Gaikwad enjoys working with local Gold Coast referrers, being involved in the medical community and playing an active role in medical education. He continues to support South Coast Radiology’s dedication in providing the highest quality service in a professional and friendly manner.
Dr Gaikwad attained his fellowship with Royal Australian and New Zealand college of Radiologists (FRANZCR).
Dr Nicholas Hall

Clinical Director - The Women’s Imaging Centre
Dr Nick Hall has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for over 25 years.
Nick Hall graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1986 and then trained in radiology at the Greenslopes Repatriation Hospital (1992–1994) and the Princess Alexandra Hospital (1995), both in Brisbane.
He continued his training as the Senior Radiology Registrar at the Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital (1996–1997), where he gained valuable training in breast imaging and MRI.
Nick joined South Coast Radiology as a radiologist in 1997 and became a partner 2000. He has held Visiting Medical Officer positions at the Gold Coast and Tweed District Hospitals and is a current Visiting Medical Officer with Queensland BreastScreen.
His subspecialty interest areas include breast imaging and MRI.
Dr Paul Heyworth
Dr Paul Heyworth is a dedicated Radiologist with a passion for musculoskeletal imaging and procedural work, particularly in pain management through minimally invasive techniques.
He holds a Fellowship of RANZCR and has extensive experience in CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.
During his tenure as Chief Radiology Registrar at Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, Dr. Heyworth led significant teaching initiatives and advocated for fellow trainees, enhancing training quality and department efficiency. His dedication to the field is evident through his active research contributions and presentations at prestigious conferences.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Heyworth is committed to the education and mentorship of junior doctors, serving as an associate lecturer at Bond University and Griffith University, and presenting at Bond surgical society events. He values the importance of community engagement and continues to contribute to the development of future radiologists.
Dr David Homewood

Clinical Director - Southport
Dr David Homewood has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for nearly 30 years.
David Homewood graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1981. David began his radiology training at the Greenslopes Repatriation Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Children’s Hospital, all in Brisbane, before heading overseas where he completed his training as the Senior Radiology Registrar at the Royal Infirmary and Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, in 1989.
David returned to Australia as a Consultant Radiologist at the Greenslopes Repatriation Hospital in 1990, and later that year joined South Coast Radiology. He has held Visiting Medical Officer positions with the Gold Coast and Tweed District Hospitals.
David’s subspecialty interest areas include musculoskeletal imaging and neuroradiology.
He maintains membership of the Australian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group, the Australian Society of Ultrasound and Medicine and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Neuroradiology.
Dr Sajjad Hussain
MBBS, FRANZCR
Sajjad Hussain graduated (MBBS) in 1992 from Nishtar Medical College, Pakistan. He received his radiology training from Mayo Hospital Lahore Pakistan and received FCPS radiology in 2001.
He practised radiology in Lahore for some time before joining Neuroradiology Fellowship at Indiana University from 2008-2010. Then he joined King Saud University Hospital as a faculty and Consultant Neuroradiologist till 2018. He passed FRANZCR in 2017, and moved to Australia to join IDX (Global Diagnostics, now known as Apex Radiology).
Dr. Hussain moved to the Gold Coast and joined South Coast Radiology in early 2020. His subspecialty includes Neuroradiology.
Dr Muhammad Idris
MBBS, FCPS, FRANZCR
Dr Muhammad Idris is a consultant radiologist at South Coast Radiology and staff specialist at Gold Coast University Hospital.
He is well experienced in all aspects of Radiology with sub specialty interests in body imaging and non-vascular body & MSK interventions.
Dr Idris completed his radiology training from Aga Khan University Hospital acquiring Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan FCPS. After successfully completing FCPS, Dr Idris acquired additional experience in interventional radiology at Aga Khan University Hospital. He subsequently served as senior specialist in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for 3 years and went for advanced subspecialty training in body imaging and body interventions at the prestigious University of Ottawa, Canada.
Dr Idris moved to Australia in 2017 and acquired FRANZCR. Before joining South Coast Radiology, he also worked as consultant radiologist at Ballarat Base Hospital, GVH hospital Shepparton, and Keystone Radiology.
He also served as director of medical imaging at GVH hospital Shepparton Victoria.
Dr Bruce Jack
MBBS, FRANZCR
Dr Bruce Jack has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for over 25 years.
Bruce Jack graduated from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1983 and completed his radiology training at Auckland Hospital and Waikato Hospital, Hamilton (1987–1992).
Bruce moved to Australia to join South Coast Radiology as a radiologist in 1993 and became a partner in 1994. He has held Visiting Medical Officer positions at the Gold Coast and Tweed District Hospitals.
His subspecialty interest areas include all aspects of radiology, especially MRI and echocardiography.
Dr Sanna Kirmani
MBBS, MD, FRANZCR
Clinical Director - The Women’s Imaging Centre
Sanna Kirmani graduated from the School of Medicine at the Aligarh Muslim University, India in 2009 and also completed her radiology training (MD) from the same institution in 2012.
In the same year, Sanna and her family moved to Australia and she secured a paediatric imaging fellowship at the prestigious Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.
In 2014, she started working at the Gold coast University Hospital as an advanced trainee focusing on women’s imaging, whilst also undertaking a mini fellowship in breast imaging at the South Coast Radiology.
Since 2015, Sanna has been working as a consultant Radiologist at SCR and Gold Coast Hospital. Her subspecialty interests include breast and pediatric imaging and MRI.
Dr Kiam Lim
MRCP (UK), FRCR, FRANZCR
After graduating from University of Southampton (UK) in 1995 and subsequent postgraduate medical training leading to MRCP, Dr Kian Lim commenced radiology training at Hull and York Training Program and was awarded FRCR in 2001 and CCST in Clinical Radiology in 2003.
Kian worked as a consultant in his home country of Brunei for 5 years as a general radiologist, with a special interest in oncology imaging and interventions, where he was also the head of radiology services for 3 years.
Kian then worked in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in Singapore, for the ensuing 9 years, specialising in body imaging, particularly abdominal MRI.
During this period Dr Kian Lim published several peer reviewed articles in abdominal imaging, and was heavily involved in the supervision and teaching of radiology residents.
He then successfully obtained his FRANZCR in 2015 while living in Singapore.
Dr Brylie McAllister
Dr Brylie McAllister graduated from her medical training at the University of Queensland in 2009. She completed the majority of her Radiology specialist training at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, in addition to The Gold Coast University Hospital in 2021.
Brylie has undertaken a one year international Fellowship with subspeciality training in Cardiothoracic Radiology at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, with additional subspeciality training in Cardiac Imaging at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane.
Her special interests include cardiac and vascular CT and MRI, and thoracic and pulmonary imaging including interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension.
She holds a staff specialist appointment at Gold Coast University Hospital.
Dr Anitia McNamee
MBBS, FRANZCR
Anitia McNamee graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2008. She completed radiology training at a variety of tertiary centres in Queensland with the majority of training completed at Gold Coast University Hospital.
Anitia completed subspecialist fellowship training in Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging at South Coast Radiology and Qscan in 2018.
She has an interest in Oncological staging, PET utilisation in non-cancer patients and body MRI.
In her spare time, Anitia enjoys running and ocean swimming as well as spending time with her family.
Dr Manish Mittal
Dr Manish Mittal is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists UK & Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Radiologists. He did his basic medical & radiology at renowned institutions in India.
Dr Mittal completed his cardiac MRI fellowship from the German Heart Institute, Berlin. He is a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac MRI (USA) & has the highest level of accreditation for CT Coronary Angiography.
He has more than 25 years of experience in Radiology and has worked in public and private institutions in India and Australia.
He has been a lecturer for University of Melbourne and Deakin University medical schools and has supervised PhD’s in artificial intelligence related to Radiology. He has mentored interns and has been a supervisor for Radiology advance trainees/fellows. He also provides pro bono radiology services to Tonga.
Dr Mittal has a wide breadth of experience in all aspects of Radiology where his main interests relate to Cardiac Imaging and Musculoskeletal Imaging.
Dr Kaustubh Narsinghpura
Dr Kaustubh “Kos” Narsinghpura graduated from India, completing his Radiology training in 2010.
After working as a Consultant Radiologist, he moved to Mackay in 2016 and started working at the Mackay Base Hospital as a Staff Specialist, a position he has held since.
Dr Kos works at Mackay Radiology as a Radiologist on Thursdays and Fridays.
Dr Kos enjoys all aspects of Radiology and has a special interest in oncology and abdominal imaging. Various image-guided injections interest him and he finds it satisfying to help other doctors in achieving pain relief for their patients.
Dr Michelle Peterson
Dr Michelle Peterson is a dedicated radiologist with subspecialty training in breast, abdominal and pelvic imaging. She completed a hybrid fellowship in these areas, bringing together her diagnostic acumen with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Michelle obtained her medical degree from Bond University in 2016, graduating with a cumulative distinction. She completed her radiology training at Gold Coast University Hospital in 2024. Her clinical interests include breast cancer screening and diagnostics, abdominal and pelvic pathology and procedural work.
Michelle is committed to education and mentorship. She is actively involved in teaching medical students and radiology trainees. She is a lecturer at Bond University and participates in academic events and regular teaching sessions. Passionate about ongoing professional development, Dr Peterson actively contribute to research.
In addition to her work with South Coast Radiology, Michelle holds a staff specialist appointment with BreastScreen Queensland and at Gold Coast University Hospital.
Outside of medicine Michelle enjoys time with her family, exploring the outdoors and staying active.
Dr Ashley Rossiter
MBBS, BBiotech(Hons)
Dr Ashley Rossiter has worked for South Coast Radiology for 5 years.
Dr Rossiter first graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003, completing a Biotechnology degree with honours and working as a research scientist in the field of molecular biology and genetics. Inspired by his work he decided to pursue medicine and completed his post graduate degree graduating for the University of Queensland medical school in 2009.
Dr Rossiter completed his residency on the Gold Coast with additional training in Brisbane and across Queensland, completing his specialist Radiology training in 2018. Dr Rossiter then perused a fellowship in interventional radiology which led him to a year long commitment in Melbourne's eastern health network. Following this year he moved to Wagga Wagga to work as a consultant interventionalist before finally returning to his hometown of the Gold Coast to start his family. Once settled at South Coast Radiology, he expanded his knowledge to include subspecialty training in Breast imaging and intervention which he is now primarily focussed on.
Outside of work Dr Rossiter plays competitive Underwater Hockey, recently representing the Australian team in the Asia Pacific games. He also enjoys camping and 4wding with his family.
Dr Sharanya Sankaran
MBChB, FRANZCR
Dr Sharanya Sankaran graduated from the University of Auckland in 2016 and completed her radiology training through the Auckland regional training scheme. Sharanya completed her subspecialty fellowship training in breast imaging in Melbourne, developing expertise in mammography, contrast enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI and image guided procedures.
Sharanya is passionate about delivering patient-focused care and is committed to working closely with multidisciplinary team members. She enjoys teaching and mentoring radiology trainees and is interested in ongoing clinical research.
Sharanya also holds a staff specialist appointment at Gold Coast University Hospital in addition to her work at South Coast Radiology.
Dr Shyam Sankaran
MBChB, FRANZCR, FAANMS
Dr Shyam Sankaran graduated from the University of Auckland in 2012 and completed his radiology training through the Auckland regional training scheme.
Following this, he relocated to Australia and completed a two-year fellowship in Nuclear medicine and PET/CT at the Alfred Hospital and at Monash Health and was awarded the AANMS registrar research award during this time.
Following nuclear medicine training, Shyam completed advanced training in Musculoskeletal MR with I-MED radiology in Albury.
Shyam now works as a Staff specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital in conjunction with his role in South Coast Radiology.
Shyam’s focus lies in Musculoskeletal imaging, Nuclear medicine/PET/CT and oncological imaging, and he is particularly interested in the use of nuclear medicine techniques in musculoskeletal imaging.
Dr Philippa Shine

Clinical Director - Runaway Bay
Dr Philippa Shine has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for nearly 15 years.
Philippa Shine graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Otago, Dunedin, in 1987 and completed her training in radiology at Auckland Hospital in 1996. She worked as a consultant paediatric radiologist at Starship Children’s Hospital, Auckland (1996–2005), while also working as a general radiologist at Mercy Radiology, Auckland.
Philippa and her family moved to Australia in early 2005, to work with Queensland X-ray Services, before joining South Coast Radiology in early 2006.
Her subspecialty interest areas include paediatric and women’s imaging.
Dr Thomas Smith
BBiomedSc, MD, FRANZCR
Dr Thomas Smith is a local to the Southern Gold Coast and graduated from the Griffith University School of Medicine in 2015.
He completed his internship and residency at Redcliffe Hospital before commencing radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Throughout his training Thomas has rotated to a variety of tertiary hospitals throughout South East and Far North Queensland including six months cardiac-focused imaging at The Prince Charles Hospital.
Thomas has an interest in education and is an associate lecturer at the University of Queensland.
Dr Brett Sounness
BSc, MBBS, FRANZCR
Brett Sounness graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland and trained in radiology at the John Hunter Hospital (2006-2011)
He completed MRI and Paediatric Nuclear Medicine fellowships at the Children’s Hospital Westmead and Monash Health. During his fellowship years Brett developed strong interest and abilities in oncological imaging and nuclear medicine therapies.
Brett has a keen interest in teaching which has included registrar, medical student and IMG teaching.
Brett has an interest in Dementia imaging with extensive experience in MRI, SPECT and PET dementia imaging. He was the driving force at SCR behind amyloid imaging at the Gold Coast.
Dr Yu-Ming Tang

Dr Yu-Ming Tang has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for over 15 years.
Yu-Ming Tang graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland (1997), and trained in radiology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and the Gold Coast Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in MRI and cross-sectional intervention, with an emphasis on neuroradiology, body and musculoskeletal radiology. He has also completed further visiting fellowships in body & musculoskeletal MRI in USA.
His subspecialty interests areas include musculoskeletal imaging (sports medicine), neuroradiology, multiparametric prostate MRI, spinal and MSK interventional procedures. He regularly participates in the local Neuro-radiology, Neuro-oncology, Orthopaedic and Urology meetings. In addition, he is a CTCA Level B accredited reporter by the Australian Conjoint Committee for Cardiac CT.
Yu-Ming is one of only a few Australian radiologists with first-author publications in both the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) and American Journal of Neuroradiology (AJNR). He also has publications in the Australasian Radiology, Skeletal Radiology and Spinal Cord.
He has presented at several conferences, including RANZCR Annual Scientific meetings and Symposium Neuroradiologicum and was awarded the diagnostic imaging prize for Best Radiology Research Paper, at the RANZCR Annual Scientific Meeting, in 2005.
Yu-Ming has been actively involved in teaching radiology registrars and medical practitioners, and also regularly presents at local medical meetings and conferences.
Dr Roy Thomas
MBBS, DMRD, DipNB, FRANZCR
Dr Roy Thomas graduated from Mysore Medical College in 1988, and completed his specialty training in Radiology at Kasturba Hospital Manipal and Apollo Hospital Madras in 1996.
He then joined National Hospital Calicut and headed the Radiology and Imaging sciences department for 4 years overseeing the introduction of MRI to the region, before moving to Brunei as a Radiologist, Ministry of Health RIPAS Hospital, Bandar Seri Begawan, in 2000.
Dr Thomas completed FRANZCR in 2006, while practising in Port Macquarie, and moved to Central Coast Local Health District, providing his interventional and image interpretation services to Gosford and Wyong Hospitals over the next 8 years. During this period Dr Thomas was actively involved in developing the department for training Registrars in Radiology.
Roy has provided locum services to several leading private service providers in and around Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle.
He moved to the Gold Coast in July 2018 to join the team at South Coast Radiology.
With skills in interventional radiology and Cardiac CT, Roy brings with him over 20 years of experience in Radiology and has particular interest in Image Guided Musculoskeletal Interventions.
Dr Adam Tonakie
MBBS, FRANZCR
Dr Adam Tonakie has been a Radiologist at South Coast Radiology for over 20 years.
Adam Tonakie graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1986 and worked as a General Practitioner and RMO at the North West Private Hospital, Brisbane, before returning to the Mater Public Hospital to complete his radiology training in 1997.
Adam moved to the US to complete a Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Centre, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He returned to Australia to join South Coast Radiology in 1999 as a radiologist.
Adam is a qualified Nuclear Medicine Specialist and his subspecialty interest areas include nuclear medicine oncology and cardiac imaging.
Dr Naomi Tracey
MBBS, FRAZNCR
Naomi Tracey graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1998.
She worked as a Radiology Registrar at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and Gold Coast Hospital prior to joining South Coast Radiology in 2014.
Her subspecialty interests include Breast Imaging and Prostate MRI.
Dr Ashley Walton
MBBS, FRANZCR
Clinical Director - Southport (Nuc Med and PET)
Ash Walton graduated from the University of Sydney and went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology qualifications in Canberra at The Canberra Hospital.
He was a clinical skills tutor at Australian National University Medical School and also involved in Radiology Registrar teaching at the Canberra Hospital and Hunter New England Area Health Service.
Ashley also completed advanced training in Nuclear Medicine and PET CT at the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle and The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Brisbane.
His professional interests include all facets of nuclear medicine and PET, including oncologic imaging and oncologic interventions.
He is interested in advancing the role of nuclear medicine in multimodality imaging of disease and also has a keen interest in registrar teaching.
Dr Gihan Wijetunga
MBBS, BMedSc, FRANZCR
Dr. Gihan Wijetunga graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010 and is an alumnus of Trinity College (University of Melbourne).
After completing his internship and residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Gihan commenced Radiology training at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital where he gained exposure to a high volume of Trauma Radiology, Body and Neuroradiology in a subspecialised reporting environment. He then underwent further fellowship training in advanced musculoskeletal imaging at Victoria House.
Gihan has been involved in several research projects including cardiovascular disease in mouse models, forensic radiology and MSK imaging. His other interests include emergency/trauma imaging and Neuroradiology.
In 2019, he was admitted to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
He is a lecturer and curriculum adviser at the Bond University Medical School and is greatly passionate about medical education.
