Xrays were first discovered by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1896 when he noticed that xrays that had penetrated his hand produced a shadow or image on film. The discovery of xrays was one of the greatest breakthroughs in medical history. General xrays remain the cornerstone of radiological diagnosis. Their use is essential for the diagnosis of such diverse problems as broken bones, arthritis, and lung cancer.

Undergoing a general xray examination is very simple. You may be asked to change into a gown to prevent buttons, zips, or other objects showing up on the film. There is no preparation required
