Services | Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging is a method of producing images of the body using high frequency sound waves.
Ultrasound is used extensively for evaluating pelvic and abdominal organs, the heart and blood vessels and can help determine the source of pain, swelling or infection in many parts of the body. Because ultrasound imaging uses no radiation it is the imaging modality of choice for pregnant women and their babies.
What to Expect?
The sonographer will take you into a dimly lit room where you will usually be asked to lie on an examination table. The sonographer will then apply warm gel on the skin and press the transducer firmly against the skin, moving it until the desired images are captured. The examination does not usually cause any significant discomfort.
Preparation
Preparation for ultrasound examinations is specific depending on what area of the body is being examined. Our staff will inform you of the preparation when you make your appointment.
