Shane graduated from the University of Queensland in 1976 and completed his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital , Brisbane in 1983.

Partner South Coast Radiology (1995 to 2007)

In 1995 Shane moved to the Gold Coast, accepting an Associate's position with South Coast Radiology, before becoming a Partner in 1996. He has also held VMO positions at the Gold Coast and Tweed District Hospitals (1995-1998) and more recently, was appointed as Assistant Professor at the Bond University Medical School (2007-2008).

Shane is a Specialist in Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (NASQAC and Qld Medical Board Registration) and is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine. His subspecialty interest areas include Diagnostic Ultrasound (member ASUM), Chest Radiology (member of the Thoracic Society of Queensland) including Echocardiography, CT and Cardiac Nuclear Medicine, and all other aspects of radiology including angiography and basic interventions.

Shane is a member of the Roentgen Ray Society of America , the Cardiac Imaging Special Interest Group of the RANZCR, is accredited by the College of Radiologists in Mammography and has accredited supervising radiologist status with the RANZCR in MRI.

In 2000/01 he held the position of Secretary of the Gold Coast Medical Association.

Shane other interests include sports and the arts. He is a member of the Queensland Rugby Union, Brisbane Cricket Ground Trust, Queensland Art Gallery Society, the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation and the University of Queensland Alumni Association.
