About Us

Dr.David Jones began the practice, now known as South Coast Radiology at 125 Nerang St. , Southport on the 2nd of October, 1967. With the addition of Dr. Peter Ryan in April 1969, the practice became a partnership of two known as Jones and Ryan. Since then the partnership has grown into today's South Coast Radiology and presently includes 22 radiologists.

The dynamic growth of SCR has resulted in 14 sites covering the entire Gold Coast, Tweed District, Toowoomba and Mackay. Two of these sites are located at the major private hospitals of the Gold Coast (John Flynn and Pindara Private Hospitals) where South Coast Radiology provides state of the art, fully comprehensive diagnostic imaging departments. SCR provides the Gold Coast, Mackay and Toowoomba with the state of the art diagnostic imaging services including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Dental CT (ICAT), Nuclear Medicine (NM), Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, and the full complement of x-ray examinations including General Xray, Dental (OPG), Bone Mineral Densitometry (BD) and Mammography.

Since its formation, SCR has also made significant contributions to public health initiatives and Medical Education for both undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as educational sessions for the local Medical community. Its doctors have held VMO positions at the Gold Coast Hospital , Tweed District Hospital , and Murwillumbah District Hospital . SCR continues to provide Radiologists for Breastscreen Queensland at Southport . SCR provides 24/7 on-call Radiology services for out-of-hours urgent cases 365 days per year via Pindara and John Flynn Private Hospitals.

SCR is 100% owned and operated by Queensland Radiologists, with no corporate involvement,  and is Queensland’s largest independently owned and operated Radiology Practice. The partners of SCR are committed to continually improving and advancing the practice, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of new imaging techniques and technology for the benefit of the local community.
